Before it was okay. But when we painted it the first time I had picked out a grey color that I thought had a hint of blue....bad choice. I've lived for the past 3 years with a country blue kitchen because of that paint choice mistake!
I've always wanted a GREEN kitchen!! With black and white of course (my favs!) but my hubby just wasn't too on board. I decided I was going to go with green this time and to my surprise he was totally okay with it. I wanted a little lighter green, but he picked this Lowe's Glidden color named Spring Green. I LOVE it!
I saw the board and batten on another blog (thrifty decor chick I think) and fell in love. I actually wanted to do it in my bedroom, but since I had just redone that room I decided to put it in here. And am so happy!! I also chose to paint my backdoor and pantry doors black. I had told a few people I was planning on doing that in conversation and every single one of them gave me a "oh, ok...." kind of look, lol. And now I just want to rub it in their faces how FABULOUS they look!!
I got those fantastic giant fork and spoon from my favorite Hobby Lobby. I love them above the pantry door.
I also had my hubbs make me some cornice valance boxes that I covered with batting and Robert Kaufman Metro Living Circles in Pewter. I will have a how-to/DIY blog coming up on exactly how to do this soon, so keep a look out!
We even made a big one for the corner windows above the sink. I still want to get a new chandelier for above the sink. I got a new one for the dining area and I think it makes a huge impact. I love the modern french feel it gives!
And quite possibly one of my favorite things - my new pictures!! I ordered the photos from A Vintage Poster and then matted them and framed them. The color choice I was nervous about, but I knew I wanted an extra pop of color since all my other decor was black and white. I absolutely love the way they pop off the green paint!! The bubblegum colored picture on the left is a Kitchen-Aid mixer!! My all time favorite appliance in the kitchen, the middle mushroom colored one says "let them eat cake" - the famous Marie Antoinette quote she apparently never even uttered. And the cotton candy colored one is a whisk. Are you getting the "cake making" theme!!?? Works great in my kitchen since I love to cake decorate! :)
And just one more shot of the dining area - cause I love it!! Oh yeah - and I got a new rug for under the table. Compliments of Overstock of course! :) Great place for rugs!
What do you think!!?? I don't really care cause I LOVE it!! :P Okay really I do care! :P Again - keep your eyes out for some upcoming how to's on projects we did in this kitchen!
